Multicylinder piston engine, the working cylinders of which are arranged coaxially opposed in pairs, with crank driving mechanism for converting the translatory movement of the working pistons and their piston rods rigidly connected to them into rotary movement of the crank output, which are immovably fixed by their inner ends to the crank mechanism frame, in the rectilinear link of which running perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the pair of working cylinders, the crankpin of the crank output slides, in which at least one pair of working cylinders is provided, of which the one working cylinder together with its working piston is designed as power-generating combustion engine and the working cylinder lying coaxially opposite together with its working piston is designed as a compressor producing compressed air, cf. drawing. <IMAGE>
