PURPOSE:To make a display tube thinner and lighter, by forming a diode structure arranging only an anode with a phosphor layer and a cathode with a thermionic emissive material with no grid. CONSTITUTION:Holes 12 are formed on an insulated panel 11, on which flit glass or resin is coated by printing to form a filled-up layer 13. After coating the plate 11 with tungsten for example, a cathode conductor 14 and a layer 15 to be coated with a thermionic emissive material are formed by photoetching process. In this case, the layer 15 to be coated is formed over the filled-up layer 13 and made in a curved form with wire smaller than that for cathode conductor 14, to obtain larger resistance to get heat. Then the filled-up layer 13 is dissolved and removed, and a thermionic emissive material such as (Ba, Sr, Ca)CO3 is coated by electrodeposition etc. to form a cathode panel. |
