PURPOSE:To attain the free change of the image position on a recording medium with no change of the input image data, by using a start control means for print in the carrying direction, a control means for print in the scanning direction and a timing control means. CONSTITUTION:A CPU21 decides the timing information between the video start and the recording paper start based on an indication of a print position designating means 11 and the page state, etc. after the preparation is through with printing, i.e., when a scanner 5 and a drum 6 have the steady revolutions and the recording paper is held by a resist roll 10. Then the CPU21 gives an indication to a timing control circuit 22 and then transmits a print start signal to the part 22. Thus the part 22 counts the video clocks given from a video clock oscillator 26 and the scan signals sent from the scanner 5 and transmits a video start signal and a recording paper start signal to a video signal generator 24 and a resist roll driving circuit 25 respectively with the prescribed timing.
