JOINTING STRUCTURE OF BALL AND SHAFT AND ITS METHOD

PURPOSE:To joint a ball and shaft with dimensional accuracy and an excellent mass-productivity by jointing the ball and shaft by a compressing force between them generated by deforming a periphery of the shaft or the inside surface of the ball locally and plastically against the inside surface of a fixing hole or the periphery of the shaft, respectively. CONSTITUTION:A top 2A of the shaft 2 is fitted into the fixing hole of the ball 1 and their combination is set in a cylindrical receiving die 5 after holding the shaft 2 by a couple of hollowed pressing dies 4 and 41. Projecting teeth 4A and 41A press a peripheral end surface of the shaft 2 vertically when the pressing dies 4 and 41 are moved down. The pressed material flows plastically in the normal direction to the pressing direction and is securely jointed with a projecting part shaped by formation of an annular W groove 1B with the compressing force. The jointed shaft 2 and the pressing dies 4 and 41 are drown and reversed after jointing one end of the shaft 2 and a ball. Then jointing another end of the shaft and another ball is performed through the same working procedure as the above described one.
