PURPOSE:To reduce the small power consumption of an optical memory cell by changing over the driving power source voltage of the memory cell to different values during a memory maintaining period and during a memory access period. CONSTITUTION:During inputting an optical input Pin (data '1') to an light stabilizing, bielement 1, a driving power source is changed over from a terminal 6 to a terminal 4, and an operating point shifts from the OFF condition of A point on a current vs. voltage characteristic to an ON condition of B point. After completing a writing operation, when the voltage of the terminal 4 returns to an original condition and the optical input Pin is varnished a transistor 2 is cut off, the driving power source of the element 1 is changed over from the terminal 4 to the terminal 6 again, the operating point shifts from the B point to C point to form a low current condition, and the ON condition is maintained as it is, and the writing of the data '1' is completed. In such a manner, since during the a maintaining period of the optical memory cell, an operating electric current value can be restricted to be low, which is effective for an integration.
