After completing a writing operation, when the voltage of the terminal 4 returns to an original condition and the optical input Pin is varnished a transistor 2 is cut off, the driving power source of the element 1 is changed over from the terminal 4 to the terminal 6 again, the operating point shifts from the B point to C point to form a low current condition, and the ON condition is maintained as it is, and the writing of the data '1' is completed. In such a manner, since during the a maintaining period of the optical memory cell, an operating electric current value can be restricted to be low, which is effective for an integration.
