PURPOSE:To draw automatically an artistic picture such as oil painting by image-processing a picture inputted from a general video device such as a television set, camera and VTR. CONSTITUTION:A scan point, a scan point where processing is executed and a processing point are assumed to be P, P' and Q1, respectively. First, the scan point P is initialized S1. Then judgement is made whether or not processing is executed at the scan point P (S2). Conditions for the judgement are previously set as a parameter. If the judgement is made that the processing is not executed at the scan point P, the processing is advanced to S5. On the other hand, when the processing is done at the point P, the processing point Q1 is decided with the scan point P' as a reference (S3). The processing point Q1 is decided by small figure called an element figure. Namely the element figure is composed of four points B1-B4 around the reference point A. Then the preset processing is applied to the processing points Q1-Q4 (S4). According to the preset method, the next scan point P is calculated (S5). Finally the judgement is made whether or not the processing is terminated, and an operation is returned to the S2 if the processing is continued.
