PURPOSE:To reduce the number of parts and to obtain the title gimbal-type floppy head having good grindability in the secondary working and excellent abrasion resistance at low cost by embedding a core into a housing formed with a resinous composition contg. an abrasion-resistant filler. CONSTITUTION:In a gimbal-type floppy head for the recording, reproducing, and erasing of a flexible recording medium, a granular or a fibrous abrasion- resistant material of silica, quartz glass, alumina, etc. having about 30-150mu mean particle diameter is incorporated most preferably into a thermoplastic resin such as polyphenylene sulfide and a thermosetting resin such as a phenolic resin, polydiallyl phthalate, and an epoxy resin along with a necessary antistatic agent, etc. to form a composition, which is pelletized. The pellets are injection- molded into a housing 7 having cavity parts 65, 61, and 64 for inserting a read/ write head 21 and erase heads 251 and 252. After the heads are inserted into the housing 7 and bonded, a sliding surface is polished, coils 31 and 31 and back bars 51 and 55 are attached, and a gimbal 9 is joined to the back surface. Consequently, productivity is also improved.
