PURPOSE:To form an indirectly-heated cathode having a long and dispersionless life by applying a pressure to the periphery without applying a pressure to the center when compressing and molding a base metal. CONSTITUTION:A base metal is pressed at 250kg/mm with a press machine, and strain is left on the surface. Next, it is heated for 1hr at 1,000 deg.C in a mixed gas stream of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide to form a diffusion control layer 6. When the base metal 1 is put in a sleeve 2 having a diameter of 1.4mm and compressed with a punch 7 having a protruded section 8 on the periphery, it is plastically deformed and fixed to the sleeve 2, and the life has little dispersion. |
