PURPOSE:To eliminate the discharge of acidic or alkaline water to the outside of a neutraization vessel by enabling the rapid and slow neutralization even when water to be treated is strongly acidic or alkaline at a pH extremely apart from 7pH. CONSTITUTION:A pH detector 3 for detecting the pH of water 2 to be neutralized in a neutralization vessel 1, a pH indicating controller 4 for treating the signal from the detector 3, an interrupter operated by the signal from the controller 4, and an automatic valve 9 for injecting an neutralizer 8 in a neutralization vessel 7 with an interrupt set by the interrupter into water 2 to be neutralized are provided. In the neutralization apparatus, interrupters 5 and 6 for outputting a different interrupt signal in correspondence with the different in pH between the controller 4 and a valve 9 are connected in parallel. The neutralizer 8 is injected with the interrupt when the pH difference in the water 2 to be neutralized is small by the interrupter 5, and the neutralizer 8 is injected with the interrupt when the pH difference in the water 2 to be neutralized is large by the interrupter 5.
