Electronic control device for monitoring the workpiece transport during step-wise pressing comprises a memory (6) which is connected on one side to the transport control device (B1...Bn) and on the other side to a comparator (7) and via its control input (L; R) to position dependent signal devices (K1; K2). Parallel exit leads (A1...An) of the slide register (5a,5b) are coupled independently to the input of the comparator (7) and via alternative members (12), coupled to the similar exits of the memory (6), are fed to the similar parallel inputs (V1...Vn) of the slide register (5a,5b). Smoothing switch (50) is arranged on the time input for parallel input (P) of slide register (5a,5b).
