The subject of the invention is sub-marine propulsion units intended for moving a diver and/or a parcel. A propulsion unit 1, 4 according to the invention may be used for moving a diver 2 or a parcel 5 on the surface or under the water. Several identical propulsion units 1, 4 may be connected by towing cables 3 so as form trains. Each propulsion unit may receive a draw rod 10 equipped with a stop 11 in the shape of a T astride which a diver is positioned. Each propulsion unit comprises a rear compartment 8 containing the electric motors and the members which transmit the power to the propeller which is placed in a hull 9 and one or more other compartments 7 containing batteries. The propeller shaft is off centre relative to the axis of the propulsion unit. One application is the movement of divers or parcels of equipment under the water or on the surface. <IMAGE>
