PURPOSE:To enable each sheet of paper to be fed forward at a given cycle time by cyclically releasing a paper feed running body and the sheet paper from pressure-contacting for a certain period of time. CONSTITUTION:In the automatic paper feed unit of the present invention, a gear 52 turning with a drive force of a platen shaft 4 of a printer 2 is provided with a cam mechanism 60, wherein a follower pin 67 defining the turning posi tion of arelease lever 42 is provided in a cam groove 65, whereby the turning of the gear 52 serves to shift the release lever 42 from the first position to the second position at a given cycle time over a certain time in response to the change in position of cam faces 63 and 64, respectively, of the first and second cams of the cam mechanism 60, thereby a sheet paper P is brought out of pressure-engagement with the feed roller 39 so that the sheet paper P will not be fed forward even when the paper feed roller 39 runs, whereby every one of sheet paper P can be fed forward at a certain cycle time, no matter what is the size of the sheet paper P. |
