PURPOSE:To reduce the capacity of a memory by dividing a track group equally by N, recording various block patterns on the N zones of tracks symmetrically, and ORing and ANDing time sense signals of corresponding tracks of the respective zones and recognizing block patterns. CONSTITUTION:Parallel recorded even-numbered tracks of a magnetic tape device which performs parallel data recording on 18 tracks are divided equally by two into zones A and B. Nine odd-numbered tracks form the zone A and nine even-numbered tracks form the zone B. Block patterns are symmetrical between the zones A and B and classified by write tracks and degaussed tracks. Respective block patterns are written on the same tracks of the zones A and B, so corresponding time sense signals of both zones are ORed to obtain information on a block pattern and ANDed to know which track time sense signal is detected from both corresponding tracks of both zones, so that a final block pattern is recognized on the basis of both pieces of information. |
