PURPOSE:To provide the titled composition containing an enediolcompound, a copper compound and a specific carboxylic acid as essential components. CONSTITUTION:The objective antimicrobial agent composition having specifically stabilized and prolonged antimicrobial activity can be prepared by using (A) 0.01-10 (wt)% enediol compound (e.g. ascorbic acid, dihydroxymaleic acid and their derivatives) (based on the whole composition), (B) 0.0001-0.1% copper compound (e.g. cupric chloride, cupric sulfate, etc.) and (C) 0.01-10% 6-10C dicarboxylic acid (e.g. adipic acid, pimelic acid, sebacic acid, stc. as essential components. When the amount of the dicarboxylic acid is too low, sufficient effect cannot be expected, and when it is too high, there occurs various problems such as the side effect of dicarboxylic acid and the formation of precipitate, etc. The composition is useful as cleaning and sterilizing agent for contact lens, gargle, cleaning and sterilizing agent for denture, cleaning agent for toilet and bathtub, anhidrotic spray, etc. |
