PURPOSE:To improve the quality of rule at the beginning of drawing rule by completely preventing the slippage of a transfer type ribbon at the beginning of rule drawing operation by a method in which a voltage is applied to a thermal printing head, a platen is moved, and then a motor for winding the ribbon is driven with a delay of a given time period. CONSTITUTION:A platen 8 is moved sideways A in the circumferential direction B in such a way that a thermal printing head 14 is matched with the starting position of rule drawing. The head 14 is lowered until it closely contacts with a printing paper set to the platen 8 through a thermal transfer type ribbon 5. A voltage is applied to the head 14 to allow the platen 8 to move. Since the ribbon is not taken up at the same time as the biginning of rule drawing and taken up after the lapse of a time period T1 during which the transfer of the ribbon is sufficiently stabilized, the slippage of the ribbon can be avoided during the take- up period. |
