METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANTS OF ACTIVE SLUDGE TO PREVENT THE FORMATION OF FLOATING SLUDGE

The formation of post-settler mud in the post-settler tanks of live mud waste water purificn. plants can be prevented by aerating the live mud sufficiently for the decompsn. of organic matter and the nitrification of nitrogen cpds., then keeping the live mud free of oxygen to allow the complete biological reduction of the nitrate cpds. in the waste water, and finally aerating the mixt. again. The amt. of dissolved oxygen in the system is checked in each step by instrumental measurements.
