PURPOSE:To prevent the damage to the surface smoothness of the 2nd magnetic layer and the boundary sepn. between magnetic layers made of two-layered structure in the stage of forming said magnetic layers by interposing a thin nonmagnetic film having <=0.3mum thickness between the layers. CONSTITUTION:The 1st magnetic layer is formed then a thin nonmagnetic film having <=0.3mum thickness is formed thereon and further the 2nd magnetic layer is provided thereon in the stage of forming the magnetic layer made of the two-layered structure having high and low coercive forces. The dissolution of the 1st magnetic layer by the solvent in the paint and the consequent spoiling of the surface smoothness are therefore obviated and the output fluctuation of the high-frequency region is prevented in the stage of forming the 2nd magnetic layer. The adhesiveness between the two layers is satisfactorily maintained and the recording medium having excellent durability without having the possibility of the boundary sepn. is thus obtd.
