PURPOSE:To eliminate energy loss arising from interference between nozzle and achieve uniform mattgrain finish in the width direction, by a method wherein a mixed jet of a high-pressure liquid and a slurry containing a fine powder of an abrasive is made to impinge on the surface of a base while optimizing the nozzle spacing. CONSTITUTION:The nozzle is provided with a slurry hole 12 comprising a slurry- supplying port 11 at a central part thereof and a plurality of high-pressure water ejecting holes 13 at the periphery of the hole 12, the holes 13 being communicated to a high-pressure water supplying port 14. Surface treatment of a metallic web is conducted by arranging the nozzles so that l>Q/D, where Q(m<3>/sec) is the flow rate of high-pressure water per one nozzle, l(m) is the nozzle spacing and D=1.67X10<-2> (m<2>/sec) is the coefficient of interference. Above an Al web 2, the nozzles are arranged at regular intervals of 35mm in the width direction of the web and at an inclination against the moving direction of the web. The nozzles are inclined at 45 deg. to the surface of the Al web and at right angles to the moving direction of the web, and are ar ranged so that the ejecting directions thereof are the same. The nozzle spacing (the value of l) in experiments on high-pressure water tips is varied by varying the arrang ing angle (relative to the moving direction of the web) of the nozzles. |
