PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic sensitive body superior in abrasion resistance and printing resistance and long in life by forming on a conductive substrate a photosensitive layer contg. a polycarbonate soluble in an aromatic hydrocarbon or halogenated aromatic hydrocarbon type solvent. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer is formed directly on the conductive substrate or on an undercoat layer formed on it by coating it with a coating fluid obtained by dissolving the components of the photosensitive layer contg. polycarbonate in the aromatic hydrocarbon type solvent, such as benzene, toluene, or xylene, or the halogenated aromatic hydrocarbon solvent, such as monochlorobenzene or dichlorobenzene, and drying it. Said polycarbonate is a noncrystalline polycarbonate prepared by using an asymmetric bisphenol and an asymmetric diol, and the photosensitive layer can be formed without using a halogenated aliphatic hydrocarbon high in toxicity. A laminate type photosensitive layer composed of an electrostatic charge generating layer and a charge transfer layer is preferable, and said polycarbonate is used for at least one of both layers by using such a solvent, thus permitting the obtained electrophotographic sensitive body to be superior in the abrasion resistance and the printing resistance. |
