CONSTITUTION:When a supersonic sensor 41 does not detect obstructions at the sides of a vehicle, a control means 11 determines a rear wheel steering angle and direction according to the normal running mode steering ratio of No.1 data select means 38. Then, the control means 11 drives and controls a rear wheel steering mechanism 10 so as to become these determined steering angle and direction. Also, when the control means 11 detects obstructions at the sides of the vehicle, it determines a rear wheel steering angle and direction according to the obstruction detecting mode steering ratio of No.2 data select means 39. At this time, the rear wheel steering angle is determined to be the same phase as the front wheel or to be returned to zero.
