PURPOSE:To detect a fault due to a DMA transfer address error or the like to a main memory from a coupler with simple processing by detecting the presence of data change of an idle area not in use in the main memory. CONSTITUTION:Many remote controllers TC1-TCn are coupled with an information processing unit 12 via a coupler 10 and the unit 12 applies remote control processing as to the devices TC1-TCn. A state change detector 16 detects the change in the input information stored in DMA (direct memory access) are ETC1-ETCn, a state change processor 18 generates control information matched with the change and an output processor 20 transmits the control information to the devices TC1-TCn. In parallel with the processing, a CPU of the device 12 executes the state change detection 22 to check the presence of data change in idle areas A1-An of the main memory 14. When a data change is detected at any of the areas A1-An, an error processing 24 is executed, prescribed error information is given to the output processor 20 to output an error information.
