The operation signal of a gas change-over device 11 is then emitted. The device 11 changes over the gaseous oxygen to a gaseous mixture composed of oxygen 5 and nitrogen 6, i.e., inert gaseous atmosphere. The simple quantitative determination of the trace carbon in the sample in a short period is thus made possible without the labor for cleaning up the surface.
