PURPOSE:To reduce the measuring time while preventing of chilling felt when measurement is taken, by providing a heater near the temperature sensing section of a clinical thermometer and a preheating temperature controller for controlling the heater to enable the preheating of the temperature sensing section at a constant temperature. CONSTITUTION:A heater 6 is set in a container housing a temperature sensing section 3 of a clinical thermometer close thereto 3. A preheating temperature controller 9 is provided in the container to control the temperature of the heater 6. By the operation of a preheat switch, the heater 6 is energized to preheat the temperature sensing section 3 up to a constant temperature prior to the measurement of body heat. This can reduce the required time for measurement while eliminating a disconfort of chilling or the like to be felt by a person to be measured.
