PURPOSE:To improve the reliability for detecting a breakage by storing a breakage data obtained from an acoustic emission (AE) sensor whenever a tool breakage is discriminated, so as to cope with a variation of a breakage detecting condition, caused by a secular change of a machine tool. CONSTITUTION:A breakage waveform is also varied together with a secular change of a machine tool and a variation of a work environment. Therefore, a signal from an AE sensor 6 is applied to a CPU9 through an AE signal processing part 7 and an input/output interface 8. To the CPU9, an RAM11 having a storage area of a breakage data of plural times corresponding to a use tool is connected by a numerical control device 3, and also an input key 14, etc. for setting a kind of the tool and a standard AE sensor sensitivity is connected through an input interface 12. The CPU9 holds the breakage data successively in the RAM11 based on these inputs, also calculates an optimum breakage detecting condition from the breakage data of plural times, sets it to a processing part 7, and executes a control so that the detecting condition is changed in a prescribed range. Accordingly, in accordance with a use state of a machine tool, the detecting condition is corrected, and also it becomes possible to cope automatically with a time aging. |
