PURPOSE:To suppress shifted rotation of motor shaft due to compression work by making the maximum clearance between the crank shaft and the bearing at the motor shaft side smaller than the minimum clearance between the crank shaft and the bearing at the opposite side from rotor. CONSTITUTION:The maximum clearance between the crank shaft 5a of lateral enclosed compressor and the bearing 8 at the motor rotor 4 side is set smaller than the minimum clearance between the crank shaft and the bearing 14 at the opposite side from the motor rotor. Since shifted rotation of motor rotor is limited by the bearing 8 nearer to the motor rotor, it can be reduced. Consequently, n-order noise of rotation can be reduced resulting in reduction of noise of compressor.
