METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING

PURPOSE:To cool and solidify uniformly a molten metal and to improve the productivity of an ingot by inserting a heat pipe which is protected with a heat resistant protective pipe and is intervened with a low melting metal into a continuous casting mold so that the delayed cooling part of the molten metal is cooled by heat absorption. CONSTITUTION:The heat pipe 5 which is protected by the heat resistant protective pipe 9 and is intervened with the low melting metal 10 to improve heat conductivity is inserted into the continuous casting mold 1. The part 4 where the cooling of the molten metal is delayed is cooled by the heat absorption. The molten metal is uniformly cooled and solidified in the mold 1. The increase in the casting speed is thus made possible and the productivity of the ingot is improved.
