PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration in the characteristic of a head core and to improve the yield of a thin film magnetic head by providing a fine groove to at least one point along the periphery of the through-hole of a substrate for the thin film magnetic head, removing the island part enclosed of the groove and forming the through-hole. CONSTITUTION:The groove 2 constituting the contour of the through-hole for winding is dug to the substrate 1 consisting of a non-magnetic material and the island part 3 is formed to the substrate 1. The discontinuous part in part of the groove 2 is used as a bridging part 4 to connect the island part 3 and the outside of the groove 2. The 1st magnetic film 5 is formed to cover the groove 2 and part of the film 5 is removed. A non-magnetic film 6 is deposited thereon and further the 2nd magnetic film 7 is formed thereon. The 2nd magnetic film 7 in the upper part of a magnetic gap 8 is removed and the 2nd magnetic core half is formed. The films 5, 7 near the groove 2 on the substrate 1 are removed and the substrate 1 is diced from the rear thereof to the thin wall arriving at the groove 2. The through-hole 9 for winding is formed in the above-mentioned manner. |
