PURPOSE:To obtain a lead cable connecting construction for a thermal head by which a lead cable can be connected reliably and securely, by using an anisotropic conductive film for connecting the thermal head and the flexible cable to each other. CONSTITUTION:The anisotropic conductive film 6 is adhered between an electrode 3 on a ceramic substrate 2 of the thermal head 1 and an electrode of the flexible cable 4. The cable 4 comprises a multiplicity of elongate copper foils adhered in parallel with each other to a belt form flexible synthetic resin sheet along the longitudinal direction, with electrodes provided at both ends of each of the foils for the purpose of connection. The anisotropic conductive film 6 comprises a fibrous conductor arranged in a fixed direction in a film form in a synthetic resin so that opposed sides of the film are electrically conductive to each other while adjacent parts along the film surface are insulated from each other. The film 6 is placed on the electrodes 3, then the electrodes of the cable 4 are laminated thereon in correspondence with the electrodes 3, and pressure and heat are applied to the assembly from upper and lower sides, thereby connecting the head 1 and the cable to each other and connecting the two kinds of electrodes to each other. |
