1,129,095. Blow-moulding; waste removal. W. BATTENFELD. 12 Oct., 1965 [23 Oct., 1964], No. 43171/65. Heading B5A. In the blow-moulding of plastics bodies from a tube, the blowing mandrel is inserted into the tube at a predetermined speed and pressure while expanding the tube and then, when the tube is completely expanded, the mandrel speed is decreased and its pressure increased while separating waste from the formed body. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, the mandrel 4 is connected to an elbow lever comprised of a first link 9 pivoted to the mandrel 4 at one end and to a second link 10 at the other, the second link 10 being pivoted on a fixed support 13 and connected to a driving member e.g. cylinder 16, the links initially at an angle substantially less than 180 degrees, the mandrel speed decreasing while the pressure increases. The second link 10 is preferably a bell crank lever connected to the first link 9 at one end, the driving member being connected at the other end, the second link being pivoted to the fixed support therebetween. In a further embodiment, (Fig. 5, not shown), the mandrel (4) is fixed to rod (22) of cylinder (21) itself mounted on the rod of a further cylinder (26), suitable fluid pressures being regulated by pipes (23, 24, 27). In Fig. 6, not shown, cylinder (21), carrying the mandrel (4) on its rod (22), has a two-part supply pipe (29, 30) supplying low pressure medium initially through (30) at high speed and then high pressure medium through (29), pipe (30) having a non- return valve (31). |
