PURPOSE:To prepare a rod lens with high production efficiency and high yield by adhering a bundle of many glass bars for the base material for lens with an adhesive agent to each other, cutting then to a specified size, and executing grinding and vapor-deposition of a reflectionless film to an end surface of a rod glass. CONSTITUTION:An assembled body 3 is formed by bundling many glass bars 1 for a base material of a lens and supporting the circumference of the bundle with glass plate 2. Then, the glass bars 1 are adhered to each other with a heat resistantfirst adhesive agent 4 such as silicon varnish, etc. Further, the space is filled with a second adhesive agent 5 such as balsam, etc. to accomplish reinforcing adhesion. Thereafter, the above-described assembled body 3 is cut to adesired size to obtain a block piece 8 supporting many rods 6 by a glass frame 7. After grinding the end surface of the glass rod 6, the above-described second adhesive agent 5 is removed by dissolving with a solvent which does not dissolvethe first adhesive agent 4. A reflectionless coating film comprising a dielectric material is then vapor-deposited to the end surface, and said first adhesive agent 4 is leached with an appropriate solvent, thus a rod lens is obtd.
