The packaging device 10 comprises a lid 14 through which passes a manipulating knob 22. The rotation of the knob 22 produced by the grip tool 20 has the effect of moving two sets of latches 34, 38 between three positions making it possible either to secure the lid 14 to the packaging shell 12 or to remove the lid alone or, finally, to secure the lid 14 to the drum 16. In this way the handling of the drum 16 can be carried out directly through the lid 14. <IMAGE>
