[Also in Division B5] A sliding clasp-fastener coil (12), Fig. 1 (not shown), is made by extruding a tube (4) of thermoplastics material about a mandrel (3), cutting the moving tube by means of a knife (5) which rotates about the mandrel axis, and forming coupling elements (10) on the coil by means of a roller or a ram. The portion (4a), Fig. 6 (not shown), is deformed to provide the coupling elements, and grooves 19 may also be provided to facilitate stitching of the coil to a tape 18, Fig. 11. The portion (4b), Fig. 7 (not shown), may be moulded by plates (17), Fig. 9 (not shown), attached to an endless belt (14), each plate having a projection (15) and recess (16) to form a recess 12, Fig. 10 and projection 13 respectively in adjacent portions 4b.
