Setting-out device for windows or the like, with a housing of U-shaped profile and with a lockable sliding rail guided displaceably in the housing and a cover covering the sliding rail, in which device the housing side walls have a catch profile (16) on their inside and in the housing (10) is a clamping control piece (60) which can be brought into engagement with the front end (34) of the sliding rail (32), the sliding rail (32) being movable relative to the clamping control piece (60) by means of a catch lever (80) having a cam (81), and the cam (81) thereby being moved in a cam track (52) of the clamping control piece (60), and in one position of the cam (81) in the cam track (52) a locking element (44) formed on the sliding rail (32) being in engagement with two elastic locking arms (64, 66) on the clamping control piece (60) and catch projections attached on the outside to the ends of the locking arms (64, 66) being pressed into the catch profile (16), and in other cam positions the locking element (44) being at a distance from the elastic locking arms (64, 66) in the space (84) between the locking arms (64, 66), so that, as a result of the displacement of the clamping control piece (60) and sliding rail (32), the catch projections pass into other positions of the catch profile (16) within the housing by connection via the catch lever (80). <IMAGE>
