The invention relates to a paper transporting device for a recording apparatus having a holder in which a roll of paper can be inserted. Furthermore, the recording apparatus has rollers for guiding the paper and a motor-driven mechanism. The mechanism transports the paper from the holder over a writing surface at which a writing apparatus is arranged. In order to ensure a simple, satisfactory paper run when using folded recording paper and to prevent possible oblique running thereof, a device (11) is proposed according to the invention which has at least two deflection rollers (14, 15, 16) and is constructed in such a way that it can be inserted in the holder (2) instead of the roll of paper. <IMAGE>
