PURPOSE:To bring a large diameter pipe to an all position automatic welding by a narrow groove by placing a narrow gap welder on the outside peripheral surface of a pipe, providing a traction truck whose weight is balanced with said welder, on a symmetrical position, and interposing a tension truck for hooking round a tension chain between both of them. CONSTITUTION:In order to bring a large diameter pip 13 to an all position automatic welding by a narrow gap, a self-running available narrow gap automatic welding equipment 9 is placed on the outside peripheral surface of the pipe 13, and a traction truck 15 whose weight is balanced with the device 9 is proviced on the symmetrical position. Also, a tension truck 17 for giving a tension to a chain 16 for connecting the equipment 9 and the truck 15 is provided, and constituted so that the chain 16 does not contact to the outside peripheral surface of the pipe 13. In this way, a desired automatic welding equipment for bringing a large diameter pipe to an all position automatic welding by a narrow gap is obtained.
