Column consisting of a number of demountable parts, a first part (2) having a housing (5) intended to contain a porous material through which can be passed a liquid introduced into a storage vessel (6) situated above this housing (5), a second part (3) having at least one collecting storage vessel (7) for the liquid which has passed through the porous material and which can be fitted below the said first part. When the two parts (2) and (3) are fitted onto each other the housing (5) is situated at a sufficient distance from the bottom of the storage vessel (7) for the liquid collected in the latter not to wet the porous material contained in the housing. <IMAGE>
