PURPOSE:To prevent an electronic apparatus from misoperation or misswitching by forming a normal key, a function key and an operation mode switching key and discriminating a key combination input to switch the operation mode. CONSTITUTION:When the function key (CONT) 21 is depressed, a code C-C is generated, decoded by a decoder part 16 and converted into a decode level CC to output the decode level CC. The decode level CC is sent to a keyboard part 2 to turn on a display unit 22. The decode level CC is stored in the decoder part 16 until the succeeding prescribed combination code is received. When the operator depresses an '0' key 23, the decoder part 16 decodes a generated code C-O, finds out the AND between the decoded value and the already stored decode level CC and outputs the AND as a decode level CC.O. Consequently, an FF 15 is inverted and the operation mode is switched from an off-line typewriter mode to a remote printer mode.
