摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the generation efficiency and yield of ozone, by generating creeping discharge on the surface of a dielectric material, thereby increasing the contacting area with oxygen in air. CONSTITUTION:A pair of electrodes 2 and 3 are attached to the top and the bottom of the dielectric material 1. A discharge generation voltage is applied to the electrode 2 and the electrode 3 with an AC power source 4. Various ceramics such as Al2O3, Si3N4, etc. may be used singly or in combination as the above dielectric material 1. A semiconductor (e.g. oxide or nitride) having a specific resistance of about 10<4>-10<8>OMEGAcm is used as the electrodes 2 and 3. The lines of electric force are generated in high density at the circumference of the electrode 2 by the application of high voltage, and electric charge is accumulated to the surface of the dielectric material 1 by the corona discharge near the electrode 2, and accordingly, the development of the discharge along the surface of the dielectric material 1 is promoted. Since the contacting rate of the discharge with the oxygen in air is increased by the creeping discharge extended on the surface of the dielectric material 1, the efficiency of ozone generation can be improved.
