PURPOSE:To increase the response frequency and to improve the jetting efficiency by applying an air flow to the end of the nozzle at a right angle to the direction of jet of the liquid as an auxiliary measure for forming the liquid droplet. CONSTITUTION:A nozzle 29 for injecting a gas of high velocity such as air is disposed in the vicinity of the end of a nozzle 24 for jetting a liquid of an injection head 21, such that the direction of the gas flow makes a right angle to the direction of the jetting of liquid. As a driving pulse is applied, a vibration plate 26 and an electric-mechanical conversion element 27 are deflected outwardly at a moment t2 so that the ink is supplied to a pressure chamber 22 from an ink supplying pipe 25. Then, as the pulse is ceased at a moment t3, the vibration plate 26 and the electric- mechancal conversion element are reset to the starting positions to form an ink column at the end of the nozzle 24. In synchronism with the formation of the ink column, an air flow of a high velocity is applied to the base portion of the ink column from the nozzle 24 thereby to make the ink fly, so that the nozzle 24 is ready for receiving the next pulse. By so doing, it is possible to obtain simultaneously a higher response frequency and a higher jetting efficiency. |
