PURPOSE:To measure the resolution of an ultrasonic probe quantitatively, by measuring the continuation time of received signals from a measuring reflector on over all vibrators. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic wave is transmitted to a measuring reflector 4 from a plurality of vibrators arranged for an ultrasonic probe 1 and a reflection signal from the reflector 4 is received with the probe 1. Then, the received signals is converted into a digital signal through a logarithmic amplification circuit 8, a detector 9, an A/D converter 10 and the like to be memorized temporarily into a memory circuit 11. Then, the memorized signal is read out to measure the continuation time of the received signal with an arithmetic unit 13 and measured values are shown on a display 15 through a display processing circuit 14. Thus, the continuation time of the received signal is measured in a short time over all vibrators and also can be displayed.
