PURPOSE:To increase the processing speed and also to make a Japanese word processor small in size by using the 1st and 2nd cartridges which consist of RAMs backed up by batteries and store the text data and the frequency information as well as extended text data and frequency information respectively. CONSTITUTION:The 1st and 2nd cartridges 37 and 38 are connected to the 1st and 2nd cartridge interfaces 35 and 36 respectively of a Japanese word processor containing a CPU31, a working RAM32, a display 33 and a keyboard 34. The cartridge 37 is provided with a CPUI/E11, an editing ROM12, a KANA (Japanese syllabary)/KANJI (Chinese character) conversion ROM13, a dictionary ROM14, a text data RAM15 and a frequency information RAM16. The cartridge 37 is backed up by a battery 17. While the cartridge 38 is provided with an expanded text data RAM22, an expanded frequency information RAM23 and a CPUI/E21 and backed up by a battery 24. Thus the constitution of a Japanese word processor is simplified for miniaturization together with the increased processing speed.
