PURPOSE:To enable a thermal recorder to be used for both thermal transfer recording and thermal recording, by a construction wherein both a thermal transfer recording temperature table and a thermal recording temperature table are provided in a CPU, and a changeover switch for the temperature tables is provided. CONSTITUTION:A recording material 4 is rewound to bring a cut leding edge thereof close to heating elements 5 so that no blank part is generated at the leading edge at the time of the next transfer, resulting in a stand-by condition for the next transfer, while an ink sheet 2 is detachably fitted. The CPU11 constituting a controlling part for the recorder comprises both the temperature table for thermal transfer recording and the temperature table for thermal recording, and a switch 12 for changing over between the temperature tables is provided at a predetermined part. When the switch 12 is turned ON, the thermal transfer recording temperature table incorporated in the CPU11 is selected, whereas when the switch 12 is turned OFF, the thermal recording temperature table in the CPU11 is selected. |
