PURPOSE:The title lightweight, long-life bucket effective in reducing power cost, which is obtd. by lining with a refractory excellent in thermal impulse resistance, wear resistance and heat resistance, and having a compsn. of a specified wt. ratio of SiC, SiO2 and Al2O3. CONSTITUTION:A refractory having a compsn. of 83-92wt% SiC, 5-12wt% SiO2 and 0.1-3.5wt% Al2O3 is provided. The inside of the shell 1 of a bucket for a dry coke quenching installation is entirely lined with the refractory 2. Thus the performance of the refractory 1 will not be lowered even if the refractory 2 is exposed to high temp. because the surface of the refractory 2 in contact with the atmosphere forms a glass film of SiO2. The obtd. bucket is reduced in wt. to about 1/6 and largely prolonged in life in comparison with a conventional bucket lined with cast steel. |
