PURPOSE:To obtain a color image superior in storage stability by fixing a photographic sensitive material comprising a blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer contg. a high-speed reactive yellow coupler, omitting a rinse step, and treating it with a stabilizing soln. contg. a sulfite of a specified concn. CONSTITUTION:An image superior in quality and prevented from discoloring and fading during storage can be obtained without a water rinse step by exposing, developing, and fixing a photographic sensitive material comprising the blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer contg. a coupler M having a coupling reaction speed ratio of A to that of a coupler N represented by formula I of RM/RN>=0.3, such as a coupler M high in reaction speed represented by formula II together with red-sensitive and blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion layers and then, omitting a water-rinse step, directly processing it with a stabilizing soln. contg. a sulfite in a concn. of >=1.0X10<-3>mol/l.
