PLATE THICKNESS FORECASTING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To adjust well a plate width by arranging a plate width gage on the inlet and outlet sides of a reversible rolling mill and by providing the arithmetic unit to estimate the plate width over the whole length of the stock to be rolled based on the signal transmitted from both plate width gages. CONSTITUTION:Because of the length L0 of the stock to be rolled at the front of the first pass being extended to the length L1 after detecting the length by length gages 9, 9 the first pass K1=L1/L0 is found by a length ratio calculating unit 10. Namely in case of the plate width at the point X0 from a rolling front tip A0 being W0(X0), the plate width equivalent to the plate width W1(K1.X0) at the point K1.X0 from the tip A1 is measured as W1(X1) by a plate width gage 7 when it is rolled to the length of K1 times. The mean value AV1 of the ratio of W0(X0) and W1(K1.X0) is found by a calculator 13 of inlet and outlet sides plate width ratio mean value with measuring N0 times before the first pass. The plate width on the way from the tip of after the first pass is found by a plate width forecast value calculator 14 with using this AV1. The plate width of the part which is unmeasurable by plate width gages 3, 7 is estimated after the second pass with repeating similarly thereafter.
