<p>PURPOSE:To control the operation or rest of a valve, by inserting the front end of a valve rod slidably in a lifter body abutting against a cam, and by controlling the engagement and disengagement of the body and the valve rod with the use of a pin provided to the body. CONSTITUTION:A lifter body 15 is disposed in a cylinder head 2 so that it is driven by a cam 12. The extension 9c of the valve rod 9b is slidably inserted in the body 15. A selector pin 18 which may slide perpendicular to the moving direction of the valve rod, is provided to the body 15, and therefore hydraulic pressure at an oil feed port 2b formed in the guide surface of the selector pin 18 for the body 15, is adjusted in association with the operation of a valve 30 which is controlled in accordance with the load and rotational speed of the engine, so that the motion of the selector pin 16 is changed over. Accordingly, the engagement and disengagement between the body 15 and the extension 9c are controlled. With this arrangement, the operation and rest of the valve 12 may be selected.</p> |
