The two housing halves of the housing, which is produced from plastic, for electric motors are constructed in the form of a pot and have identical shapes, so that only one injection mould is required for both halves. Latching devices, which are of identical shape and project radially outwards from the cylindrical jacket (18) in the region of the openings (2) in the housing halves, are provided for detachable connection of the two housing halves. These latching devices consist of frames (20) which are placed on the housing half and are divided into two chambers (22, 23) by a separating wall (21), a latching tongue (24) projecting from the one chamber (22), and the second chamber (23) having an undercut for the latching tongue (24) on the other housing half to latch into. In consequence, it is possible to connect the two housing halves, which are of identical shape, to one another simply and quickly, by pressing them together, without using screws or other aids. The latching connection can easily be released so that the two housing halves can be separated again in the event of the electric motor being repaired. <IMAGE>
