The binding part (2) on the ski substantially consists of a plate part (3) with upward-angled lateral cheeks (4) and bearing blocks (5) for a locking part (6) arranged thereon. The lateral cheeks (4), arranged laterally to the extension (16, 18) of the sole of the cross-country ski boot (15), have recesses (8) which are open towards the front and into which the front part (18) of the extension of the sole with lateral projections (19) can be pushed. In order to insert the extension (16, 18) of the sole into the binding part (2) on the ski, the locking part (6) can be depressed in a resilient manner. As soon as the projections (19) are then fully pushed into the recesses (8), the locking part (6) springs back into the position of rest as illustrated. In order to remove the extension (16, 18) of the sole from the binding part (2) again, the locking part (6) can be depressed by means of a ski stick or swung over anti-clockwise manually so that the front part (18) of the extension (16, 18) of the sole is released.
