PURPOSE:In the polymerization of an aqueous solution of a vinyl monomer, an alkylene oxide adduct on a ditrylated phenol is used to lower the tackiness of the resulant water-soluble polymer whereby the polymer is prevented from sticking to the wall surfaces of the polymerizer and its peeling is facilitated. CONSTITUTION:In the polymerization of a water-soluble vinyl monomer such as (meth)acrylamide, or (meth)acrylic acid, usually in 20-80wt%concentration, an alkylene oxide adduct onto a distrylated phenol as an antiadhesive agent, preferably in an amount of 0.05-0.5% based on the solid basis of the polymer gel. Further, when the polymerizer is coated with a tetrafluoroethylene-ethylene copolymer or provided with the films of the resin facilitates the peeling-off of the polymer gel.
