PURPOSE:To consolidate a piston head with the body of the piston by fitting a metal O-ring in a circumferential groove provided in that outside surface of piston head where the piston body is connected, wherein the O-ring shall by heated to a temp. higher than its service temp., and allowing the ring to contract at the time of use. CONSTITUTION:A piston head 2 is provided with a cavity 8 in the center its top and with a circumferential groove in the periphery, and the block is subjected to heat treatment. A piano wire preliminarily formed into a ring is set at this circumferential groove 5, and the two ends of the piano wire in the condition as heated to a higher temp. than its service temp. are put in contact to be followed by welding process using laser beam 6 etc. so as to yield an O-ring 3. During service or out of service under normal temp., this O-ring 3 contracts to squeeze the circumferential groove 5. The heat part 2 with O-ring fitted is set on the piston body 1 with a spacer 7 interposed, wherein a ring-shaped coupling member 4 is fixed to the piston solidly, so as to present a piston construction. |
